Why should I choose root canal therapy?
Having a toothache can be extremely painful and can hinder your ability to fully enjoy life. It could also be a sign of a serious infection. Fortunately, root canal therapy provides effective relief without any pain due to modern techniques. The Root Canal Treatment Process
Diagnostics & Preparation
Your dentist will start by conducting a thorough examination and reviewing your x-rays to identify the cause of your dental pain. If an infection is found, they will assess the severity to determine if a root canal is needed. If a root canal is necessary, your dentist will provide local anesthesia before beginning the procedure and will also discuss sedation options with you.
Removing Decay & Infected Pulp
After ensuring you are comfortable and completely numb, your dentist will start by removing any decayed or infected material. The procedure will begin with the enamel and move towards the pulp. Once the infected pulp is removed, the canals will be cleaned thoroughly and the area will be rinsed with a specialized disinfectant to get rid of any remaining infection.
Filling & Sealing
After your tooth is cleaned and sanitized, a rubber-like material called "gutta-percha" will be used to fill the inside. This material is inert and helps support the tooth's structure after the pulp is removed. Depending on the level of decay and the amount of healthy enamel remaining, the tooth will be restored with either a filling or a dental crown.
